Vital to shop local
28 Oct 2016
Supporting local businesses is another way for us to show that ours is a community which looks out for each other.
That’s why I’m so proud to back The Logan Reporter’s City Pride campaign, which is all about encouraging people to shop locally.
Too often people in our community head towards Brisbane or the Gold Coast to do their shopping.
That might be due to habit, or perhaps because some of them genuinely aren’t aware of what they already have closer to home.
But shopping elsewhere takes money and jobs out of our community, which could instead go to local families – our friends and neighbours – who run small businesses.
Campaigns like this put the spotlight on just how many great local businesses we have here and the wide range of goods and services they provide.
By shopping locally, we’re supporting some great businesses, who return the favour by boosting our economy and creating jobs for local people.
