THE Rochedale Rovers Football Club has been kicking goals on and off the field after receiving a $7500 grant to upgrade its facilities.
The club has used the Stronger Communities Grant, which was secured by Member for Rankin Jim Chalmers, to purchase new goalposts, nets and other training equipment at their home ground at Underwood Park.
Mr Chalmers said the funding would be put to good use helping the club expand and help younger players improve their skills.
"Rochedale Rovers FC is one of the fastest growing sporting clubs in our local area and have a proud history of success," Mr Chalmers said.
"I'm so pleased this funding will help the younger teams with training so we can unearth the next generation of Rovers greats." Mr Chalmers said 19 groups had applied for about $150,000 in the latest round of Stronger Communities grants, which would go to small capital projects within the electorate of Rankin to bring about local improvements.
