November as a local MP means one thing: school graduations.
The award I present at high schools goes to students who have overcome big challenges and adversity and who will continue their education.
I found the story of Mohammad Javir particularly touching.
This week the Woodridge State High School student will fulfil the last wish of his parents, who he lost at sea while coming to Australia, by graduating.
I was proud to meet him and so many other impressive young people during the week.
Of course, for most Year 12s in our community, graduating this week will be a celebration - the end of one chapter in their lives and the start of an exciting, new one.
My message to those young men and women is to enjoy the milestone, but also to take the time to thank all the people who helped get them there.
To all the graduating students - stay safe, have fun and all the best for the future.
