A Shorten Labor Government will fund a $150,000 upgrade to the lights at Logan’s biggest netball club, allowing more locals to take part in the sport, especially women and girls.

Logan City Netball Association is a community-run organisation with hundreds of members but a lack of lit netball courts is hindering its ability to expand.

My sisters played there when we were kids, I’ve visited regularly as the local MP and supported representative teams, and so I know first-hand just how important Logan City Netball is to our community.

Labor’s commitment will allow six extra courts to be used for night games during the week, enabling the club to further expand its membership.

The club already hosts regular netball carnivals and tournaments that attract thousands of visitors to the park and the region. The new lights will allow the club to host more netball tournaments.

We will turn the lights on, so more local girls and women can shoot the lights out.

Our commitment is not only good news for the club, but good news for the thousands of young aspiring netballers in our local community who will have more access to the sport they love.

Labor can afford to fund important local projects like this, and properly fund local schools and hospitals, because unlike the LNP, we’re not giving big unaffordable tax handouts to the top end of town.
