Labor notes the appointment of Bruce Miller as Chair of the Foreign Investment Review Board following the very sad passing of the legendary David Irvine.

Mr Miller brings extensive diplomatic and national security experience.

It is no reflection whatsoever on Bruce Miller to say that we are disappointed with the absence of consultation by the Treasurer once again, on yet another significant appointment on the eve of an election.

This key appointment to a crucial economic institution was not made with the bipartisan seriousness and consultation that it deserves.

I have communicated my deep disappointment directly to the Treasurer.
