WADA Essendon Ruling

12 January 2016

The Opposition notes the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling regarding the World Anti-Doping Agency case against thirty-four current or former players from Essendon Football Club.

Our concerns and thoughts are with the players, family members and fans of the club who have been through an incredibly difficult three years.

On a day like today, there is no place for petty political point-scoring which is what makes the comments by Minister Ley pathetic and disappointing.

While fans and players are going through such a challenging time, the Government is busy playing politics.

Sport is such an important part of Australian society, and Labor is committed to upholding our international anti-doping obligations.
