Liberals Vote Against Tax Cuts for Every Worker This Term

02 July 2019

The so-called “party of lower taxes” has just voted against tax relief for every Australian worker in this term of Parliament.

The so-called “party of lower taxes” has just voted against tax relief for every Australian worker in this term of Parliament.

On the same day as the Reserve Bank cut the cash rate to another new record low to get the economy moving, the Liberals have refused to do their bit.

Labor’s amendments were moved in good faith to help fix the mess the Liberals have made of the economy.

The Liberals are holding hostage tax cuts for every worker this week to expensive tax cuts in 261 weeks’ time, which won’t do anything to help boost an economy that’s floundering on their watch now.

Economic growth is feeble, wages are stagnant and consumption is weak, and the Liberals have no-one else to blame but themselves.

Instead of all the finger-pointing and blame-shifting, this third-term Government should actually take responsibility for its own economic mess and work towards fixing it.
